Yes Yes Yes

Here is another poem about losing the love of my life. I am coming out the other side of this grief and I thought it would never end. Writing and sharing these very personal pieces have pulled me through❤️
I have my first ever poetry reading coming up !

YES YES YES

You always said yes yes yes
when I asked to go places with you
Where you went, I went
I don’t think you ever knew the meaning of the word no
You read every book on the planet and never missed a newspaper
Yes yes yes
One day you decided to go on a big adventure
I didn’t know where you were going and nobody else did either
When I asked if I could go, it was the first time I ever heard you say the word no
No no no
November 9th came and off you went
No plane tickets
No make up
No luggage
No Lorraine
Mama, since you only said the word no once in your life I’ll forget about that and only remember
Yes yes yes

Aphrodite

The sky held her breath for the longest time
I drank a whole bottle of wine
Then, rain poured out of blue rooms covering night birds , storm lovers and a homeless moon.
Yesterday I felt like an old abandoned doll left on the side of the road
But today after the great rains washed away countless hours of uninterrupted grief, sorrow, regret, dirt, tar, dust, spit, grime, garbage and bullshit
I am finally clean
Aphrodite in a glass dress
Waiting to be asked to dance 🧛‍♀️

Kindred Spirits

This is a poem I wrote this Valentine’s Day but was too scared to share :) now I have more courage or maybe it’s because I don’t give a flying rats ass about anything!

Kindred Spirits

Please do not bring me roses on Valentine’s Day or on any other occasion.
How I dread
To see the redheads
Drop in sorrow when they see my face.
Give me handfuls of hardy carnations
A pair of wicked sunflowers
Sourpuss snapdragons
Wind chewed marigolds
Drop dead lilies
And, if by chance you happen to find a lonesome flower growing out of the hard baked New York City sidewalk,
Bring her to me
We are kindred spirits
And will know each other instantly.

Blame it on the dress

I fixed this poem up! Upon looking at the poem I said oh hell girl you can do a little better so here it is❤️😻✨

Blame it on the dress

At the close of this dead end road of a day
I take off my beautiful dress and toss it into the trashcan
None of this is my fault
None of this is your fault
It isn’t even our fault
Let’s turn down the lights
Jump into bed
Do what brought us together in the first place
And blame it all on the dress

The name’s Leckie

Just finished this poem for my dear friend Steve Leckie.
We were in love when we were young and stayed friends all our lives.
Rest in Power.
Photo @mjcatto

The name’s Leckie

At the end of the day
The moon applauds
The stars drink a toast to you
My first wild love
We packed up your suffering
Sent it out to sea
Where the ocean sings
Dolphin’s wink
Pain is a pale memory
No more pain
Only dream river blues
All your enchanted songs left behind
You don’t need them anymore
But darling we do
We are the ones that saw into your heart
and loved you just the way you are
You loved us too, the trusted few.
Promise me that when I join you in the yonder wild we will continue our 8 hour conversations over coffee, music and Arthur Rimbaud
No gossip
Just two explorers with the same name
The name’s Leckie my friends and don’t ever forget it.

When you were near

This is a poem of betrayal I think it’s one of my most concise from this 2025 bunch . I hope you don’t relate to this poem but if you do please let me know❤️
Writing makes pain go away and I found that it’s ok to share these poems!

When you were near

All of our lives
I loved you
I had no idea
You never liked me
You always hated me and I never knew
Then, one day tragic circumstances uncovered your secret
We were forced to go our separate ways
I guess you were relieved
I was completely destroyed
Now, as the distance between us grows, my heart celebrates a new brightness
I don’t miss you
And, I no longer sleep with a knife under my pillow
As I once did, long ago
When you were near.

When I get home

Just finished this poem and posting it a second later which feels inspiring.
WARNING ‼️it’s a sad one.
Thanks for being there my fellow humans!

When I get home

I know it’s impossible
I know it shouldn’t be
Somehow I am getting over losing you
Something is healing me
I don’t know who or what
Maybe it’s because I live by the river
Maybe because I punch the sun in the face every morning and she forgives me
Could be because I got a message from that crazy little robin
The one you adore
The one that still lives in your eavestrough
Ms Robin claims that you will be the first to greet me after my long journey
Just like when I was born
Mama you are always smiling
I can’t wait to see you when I get home.
When I get home
Home is you
You are home
Mama.

For the Soldiers

I wanted to post this poem for Memorial Day but it didn’t finish itself til one minute ago!
I have my first poetry reading ever this coming Tues June 3rd at 7pm @kgb_bar_official hosted by Peri Masco @pianogirl1133

For the Soldiers

Summers first entrance met with cold applause
People on the avenues are made of glass
The look straight through one another without connecting
On Memorial Day
Where is everyone?
Out looking for some heat?
Let’s throw our phones into the drink
Or just put them away for one day
To be free
To be a mystery
To be the smartest dog on any street in America
For the soldiers
For every bird in every tree
For the soldiers that gave their lives and dreams for you and me
For the soldiers
For the soldiers
For the soldiers

I reach across the black lake of despair

Sundown

I’m going to start sharing my poems 💫
I keep them to myself but that’s not very brave : )
Photo @billyleroynyc

Sundown

Perfumes of summer vanquished
Evenings grow colder
I watch the Autumn leaves
Ascend to great beauty as they die
Walking over multitudes of multicolored bodies
On this bright and silent afternoon
Suddenly I run into Sundown
That bitch always gets me down
In her dark unhappy dress
Throwing the day out with the trash
As if it never existed
I will not let her win
I will not throw away this day
I will keep it safe in a poem
And defeat Sundown once and for all
